Labels & Materials

What’s the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer labels?

Direct thermal and thermal transfer refer to how a label is printed. Direct thermal labels don’t require a ribbon and are best for short-term uses like shipping, dispatch and temporary barcodes. Thermal transfer labels use a ribbon and are better for durable or long-term applications where the print needs to last.

Synthetic labels refer to the label material. They’re generally more durable than paper labels and are used when labels need to handle moisture, cold storage, chemicals, outdoor exposure or frequent handling.

How do I know which label size to order?

Start by checking your printer model, current label size, roll width, core size and how the label will be used. If you can’t find the exact size you need online, contact our team and we can help confirm whether there’s a stock option available or whether a custom size is required.

What label material should I choose?

The right material depends on your environment and how long the label needs to last. Paper labels suit most everyday uses, while synthetic labels are better for moisture, cold storage, chemicals or outdoor exposure. Our team can help recommend the best option.

What adhesive types do you offer?

We supply permanent, removable and freezer-grade adhesives. Permanent adhesives are designed to stay put; removable adhesives peel away cleanly; and freezer-grade adhesives perform reliably in cold or damp conditions.

What’s the difference between stock labels and custom labels?

Stock labels are standard sizes and formats that are ready to order online. Custom labels are made to suit specific sizes, materials, colours, branding or application needs. If you’re not sure which option you need, our team can help point you in the right direction.

Are your labels Australian made?

Many of our labels are manufactured and converted locally in Melbourne, allowing us to maintain consistent quality and fast dispatch on stock items.

Do you supply food and beverage labels?

Yes, we supply labels for food and beverage businesses, including product labels, freezer labels, barcode labels, retail labels and custom printed options. If your labels need to meet specific packaging, storage or compliance requirements, contact our team for advice.

Printer Compatibility & Setup

Will this label roll fit my printer?

Printer compatibility depends on your printer model, roll width, core size, outside roll diameter and whether your printer uses direct thermal or thermal transfer printing. If you’re unsure, contact our team before ordering and we can help check the right fit.

Do your labels work with Zebra, Dymo and Brother printers?

Yes, our labels are compatible with many Zebra, Dymo and Brother printers. If you’re unsure which size or roll configuration suits your model, our team can confirm compatibility before you order.

How do I choose the right label printer?

This depends on print volume and environment. Desktop printers suit low to medium volumes, while industrial printers are designed for continuous, high-volume use. Our team can recommend the right printer based on your workflow.

Ribbons

What’s the difference between wax, wax/resin and resin ribbons?

Wax ribbons are the most economical option for paper labels used in dry environments.

Wax/resin ribbons offer increased durability and resistance to handling and light moisture. Resin ribbons provide maximum durability and are used on synthetic labels in harsh environments.

How do I know which ribbon suits my labels?

Ribbon choice depends on label material and application. Paper labels typically use wax or wax/resin ribbons, while synthetic labels require resin ribbons. Our team can help match the correct ribbon to your labels and printer.
